The Y-Fry bag is a simple, affordable way to lower the RF radiation from your WiFi router. It is a bag made from a metalized radio frequency screening fabric, designed and made in the UK from Swiss Shield® Naturell or BlocSilver®. The fabric reduces the power of your router's signal, which means a shorter range. Within that range, your signal speed is uninterrupted. Choose Your Fabric
Swiss Shield® Naturell is the choice for routers that use 2.4 GHz. It gives strong shielding at 2.4 GHz (about 34 dB) while you still get access to high-speed WiFi. BlocSilver® is the choice for modern routers that use 5 GHz, where it provides about 45 dB, against about 27 dB for Naturell. The bag is a single layer of fabric, so these are the fabric figures.
How the Y-Fry Bag Works
Place the bag over your router, then pull the drawstring tight. Your router keeps working, but its signal is weaker and the range is shorter, so you can sit near your router with less RF radiation reaching you. If you need WiFi further away, for example in the garden, take the bag off.
Safety: Remove the Bag if Your Router Stays On Overnight
A router in a bag can get hot, so do not leave the Y-Fry bag on a router that stays on overnight. If you do leave the bag on an active router during the day, check regularly that the router is not overheating. The fabric is treated with flame retardant, but that is not a guarantee. If you want to leave your router on overnight, our ventilated Router Box is the better option.
