BlocSilver® 5G Blocking Silver EMF Fabric

BlocSilver® is a lightweight, breathable, conductive fabric that shields against RF signals. It is 59 inches (150 cm) wide, weighs about 1.0 oz per square yard (34 g/m²), and is made from 20% double-coated silver and 80% nylon. 5G Blocking Fabric: 36 dB at 40 GHz

BlocSilver® provides 36 dB of shielding at 40 GHz, which covers the high-frequency millimeter wave range used by 5G. At lower frequencies, including the WiFi and cell phone bands, attenuation is higher, at around 45 to 50 dB. It also blocks digital TV, DECT, WiMAX, 3G, 4G and other wireless signals. Decibels are a logarithmic scale: every 10 dB is a tenfold reduction in signal power, so 36 dB means more than 99.9% of the signal power at that frequency is blocked. Light and Breathable

At just 1.0 oz per square yard (34 g/m²), BlocSilver® is very light, and it is extremely breathable, so it suits hot climates and sleeping spaces.

Sold by the Length

BlocSilver® is sold in 3.25 ft (1 m), 5 ft (1.5 m) and 10 ft (3 m) lengths, all 59 inches (150 cm) wide. Your order is cut as one continuous length, so if you need a longer length, increase the quantity in your basket. For example, a quantity of 3 of the 10 ft length arrives as one continuous 30 ft (9 m) piece. Not sure yet? Try our sample pack of four.

Care and Washing

BlocSilver® can last up to 40 washes while still maintaining its shielding properties, if it is washed according to these instructions. Washing will eventually degrade any fabric containing silver fibers and reduce its shielding performance, so wash only when you need to. The fabric is encased in an antioxidant coating and can be spot cleaned or wiped down with a damp rag.

• Use Texcare or a pH neutral detergent to help protect the silver.
• Gently hand wash with cooled boiled water or mineral water, especially in high chlorine areas. You can also machine wash on a gentle cycle with cool water.
• Hang dry indoors only, and keep the fabric away from direct sunlight to prevent silver oxidation.
• Avoid use in high-salt or sulfide air conditions.
• Do not use oils, bleach or any chlorine-based detergent, and do not iron or dry-clean.

Test your tap water first. Poor water quality damages the silver in the fabric. Sulfur, high fluoride and low pH react strongly with silver and can destroy conductivity and shielding performance. Before washing, test your water on a small fabric swatch:

1. Soak a small swatch in tap water for 1 hour.
2. Look for a color change in the water or swatch, especially blackening.
3. Air-dry the swatch and check its conductivity by touching an ohm meter to two points on the fabric.
4. If the color changes or conductivity is lost, do not use tap water to wash or rinse the fabric. Use distilled, deionized or reverse osmosis water instead.

Sunlight and Discoloration

As with all silver-coated fabrics, extreme sunlight exposure will cause deterioration, so keep BlocSilver® away from direct sunlight. Discoloration over time is normal. If you cannot accept discoloration, please consider Swiss Shield® fabric instead.
