Cemprotec 33: All-in-One Radio Frequency, Electric and Magnetic Field Meter

The Cemprotec 33 checks three things in one compact meter: radio frequency signals from WiFi, cell towers and Bluetooth, and the electric fields and magnetic fields from your home's wiring and appliances. Colored LEDs show the level of each, and an audio function helps you identify sources. It is designed and made by EPE Conseil, and it replaced the ESI 23. Browse our full range of EMF meters to compare it with other options.

What the Cemprotec 33 Measures

  • Radio frequency (RF): 1 MHz to 8 GHz, including WiFi, Bluetooth, cell phones and cell towers.
  • Electric fields: 10 Hz to 5 kHz, from wiring, appliances and power lines.
  • Magnetic fields: 10 Hz to 5 kHz, measured in three dimensions, from wiring, appliances and transformers.

Standard Mode and Full HF Mode

In standard mode, the Cemprotec 33 shows electric fields, magnetic fields and radio frequency on separate LED bars. Full HF mode gives radio frequency a higher-resolution LED display, so you can see smaller differences between signals. The audio function plays the radio frequency signals so you can hear what you are detecting, and the manual includes a table of the level that each LED represents.

Cemprotec 33 Radio Frequency Range and 5G

The radio frequency range of 1 MHz to 8 GHz includes 4G, WiFi on both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, Bluetooth, and the sub-6 GHz bands used by most 5G networks. It does not reach millimeter wave 5G, which starts at 24 GHz. For that, choose the FM5 Path Complete, which reads 24 to 32 GHz.

Find Sources Around Your Home

Walk through your home with the meter to see where fields and signals are strongest: near the router, cordless phones and smart devices, and near wiring, appliances and electrical panels. Readings change as you move closer to or further from a source, so you can compare rooms, check a home before you buy or rent, and see whether a reading changes after you move a device.

Compact and Lightweight

The meter measures 7.0 x 2.0 x 1.3 inches and weighs just 3.2 oz. A 9V battery is included, so it is ready to use as soon as it arrives.

Cemprotec 33 vs Cemprotec 31, 32 and 34

EPE Conseil makes four Cemprotec meters, and we sell all of them. The number tells you what the meter measures:

  • Cemprotec 33 (this meter): radio frequency (1 MHz to 8 GHz) plus low-frequency electric and magnetic fields (10 Hz to 5 kHz), in one meter.
  • Cemprotec 34: the same three types of field, with a wider radio frequency range (1 MHz to 10 GHz) and a finer display.
  • Cemprotec 31: radio frequency only, from 1 MHz to 10 GHz, on a 24-LED scale.
  • Cemprotec 32: low-frequency electric and magnetic fields, plus powerline communication (PLC) and dirty electricity signals. It does not measure radio frequency such as WiFi or cell signals.

In short: choose the 33 if you want radio frequency and low-frequency fields in one meter, the 34 if you want that same coverage with the widest radio frequency range and the finest display, the 31 if radio frequency is all you want to check, and the 32 if your concern is wiring and powerline signals. See the Specifications tab for a side-by-side table. If you want numerical readings, see the TriField TF2, or the FM5 Path for directional tracing.
